GLUE
DOWN INSTALLATION
PREPARATION
MEGA FLOOR
engineered floor can
be installed
directly over most
existing floor
coverings, except
for carpet. Wood
flooring glued to
concrete must be
removed before
installation.
Allow planks to lay
flat in unopened
cartons at room
temperature for a
minimum of 48 hours
prior to
installation. Allow
more time in high
humidity or very dry
areas.
PRE-INSTALLATION
INSPECTION
It is the
responsibility of
the installer to
inspect each board
for visible defects
before installation.
Any board with
visible defects
will be replaced at
no cost. If the
defective board has
been installed, no
cost of labor will
be paid for repair
or replacement of
defect.
SUBFLOOR PREPARATION
Subfloor must be:
Dry, clean and free
of wax, paint, oil,
and debris. Scrape
smooth and sweep
prior to
installation.
Subfloors should be
flat to 3/16" - per
8' radius. If
subfloor prep work
is required, "hills"
should be sanded
down and
"valleys" filled
with an underlayment
patch, developed by
a reputable
manufacturer for use
with hardwood
flooring.
Do not sand
sub-surfaces such as
vinyl or synthetic
tiles that my
contain asbestos.
Structurally sound
prior to
installation. Secure
loose areas to
reduce squeaking and
replace water
damaged or
delaminated
sub-flooring or
underlayments.
Before installing
over concrete,
concrete covered
with existing
ceramic, marble,
stone, vinyl tile,
or linoleum:
- Test floor for
excessive moisture.
To do so, cut 3’ x
3’ squares of
polyethylene plastic
(one of every 200
sq.
ft. of floor space).
Spread around
different areas of
the floor for a more
accurate evaluation.
- Tape all edges
down firmly sealing
them directly to the
existing floor.
Leave down for 24 to
48 hours; if
moisture forms under
the plastic or if
the cement darkens,
seal with a concrete
sealer.
- The use of a
moisture-meter is
recommended.
Moisture of subfloor
should not exceed
2.5% (CM-Method).
On Wood floors:
- No additional
underlayment is
needed, as this
product contains a
preattached
underlayment. If
wood floor
is adhered over
concrete, it must be
removed before
installing MEGA
FLOOR engineered
floor.
On
Concrete Floors:
- Use a 6 or 8 mil
polyethylene film
underlayment to
protect the flooring
from subfloor
moisture emissions.
The film should be
rolled out with the
seams overlapped at
least 2" and taped
with a 2" clear
packaging sealing
tape.
MOISTURE BARRIER
If the above tests
reveal unacceptable
moisture levels,
install sheet vinyl
(PVC) directly to
concrete slab.
Follow instructions
from sheet vinyl
manufacturer, using
a premium grade
alkaline resistant
adhesive and full
spread application
system to bond vinyl
to subfloor.
ABSOLUTELY NO
